Commerce Kids learn and thrive each day with a diverse, dynamic, and dedicated curriculum for all ages at the Center. Our teachers use the Creative Curriculum, as it allows them to integrate interactive teaching Methods organized by themes into their daily and weekly lesson plans. The teachers develop a weekly lesson plan that describes the theme and how it will be incorporated into art, literacy, music and movement, physical development, science, math, cooking, and health lessons for the children. The infants and the one year old toddlers receive an individualized daily report that describes their day and developmental milestones. Once children reach the two year old class, teachers send email reports to parents with details about their children’s day. In addition, each month the classrooms focus on different pillars of the ethical educational tool: Character Counts. Children learn about Trustworthiness from Shinrai the camel, Respect from Austus the lion, Responsibility from Ansvar the elephant, Fairness from Guisto the Giraffe, Caring from Karina the kangaroo, and Citizenship from Kupa the bear in order to be strong members of the community.
In addition, the Center offers a Multi-Cultural hands on music program twice a month so that all our classrooms enjoy the specialized music classes. The twos, threes, and four-fives classrooms have fun and get some exercise while taking part in the Power Tots gymnastics program once a week. The threes and fours-fives also take part in a popular soccer program here at the Center.
Once a week, the threes and fours-fives take a Spanish class where they learn about the importance of other cultures and speaking another language through activities such as singing and drawing. The four-fives also are preparing for Kindergarten through the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum, which encourages children to master letters in a more productive, confidence-building and fun way of learning these important skills.
